Hunters Branch Cleanup
Saturday, March 31, 2007

The Stonehurst Homeowners Association (SHA) volunteers completed a cleanup of the Hunters Branch section north of Rte 50, just west of Nutley Street. Their effort was part of the annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup that is sponsored by the Alice Ferguson Foundation, which provided supplies and support for the cleanup. This was the second cleanup the association completed in the past Five months (the last one being on Nov 11, 2006). The group found the site to be in much better condition than in 2006.

Eleven volunteers assisted in the cleanup: Jack Buckley (Friends of Accotink Creek and SHA Site Coordinator), Lisa Lofton, Eleanor Hahn, Chris Daubert, Karen Cook,Pam Miller, Julie Varron, Robert Babingon Smith, Tom Easton, Ann Oeland and her son Danny. The group collected 37 bags of trash - bottles, cans, plastic bags, Styrofoam, assorted plastic, etc. In addition they picked up two tires, an hibachi, a bicycle and a car radiator
