Flag Run Cleanup - Cub Scout Pack 868
November 2006

On an unusually warm Saturday in early November the Cub Scouts of Pack 868 focused their time and energy on cleaning up Flag Run as part of their service to the community. The day started around noon as the scouts and their parents gathered near Queensbury Rd., north of Lake Accotink. Their job was to descend on Flag Run and clean up as much trash as possible. The team of 16 was split into 3 groups. Two groups headed south tackling opposite sides of the stream making their way towards the lake. The other team worked their way north. The stream itself was difficult to manuever at times but the scouts were up for the challenge and left no piece of trash untouched. All in all the scouts collected about 8 trash bags worth of waste, a surprise to both the scouts and to the adults who were assisting the cleanup. Afterwards the team headed over to Lake Accotink for some much needed snacks and refreshments. A great way to end a fun day helping keep the environment clean.
