Daventry Stream Restoration 2015 |
An small unnamed tributary of Accotink Creek in the Daventry neighborhood on Hunter Village Drive recently underwent a stream restoration project. the project had two aims, 1) To safeguard a sanitary sewer riser threatened by erosion and 2) To prevent erosion in general, thereby reducing the supply of fine sediment that smothers the small living things that form the basis of the aquatic food chain. Friends of Accotink Creek member Dave Lincoln was able to rescue a number of native plants ahead of the bulldozers. - Posted October 6, 2015
